Everything on this website, in our kits and in our free tools is general information to help you keep records and understand the rules. It is not legal, tax or financial advice, and it does not take account of your personal circumstances. Check your own situation with HMRC, GOV.UK, Acas or a qualified adviser before making decisions.
Who we are not
RuleKits is not an accountant, tax adviser, solicitor or regulated financial adviser. We are not part of, or endorsed by, HMRC, the UK Government, the Scottish Government or any other public body.
Accuracy and updates
We check rates, thresholds, dates and rules against official sources such as GOV.UK, HMRC guidance and legislation.gov.uk, and list those sources with the date we checked them. Rules can change, sometimes at short notice, and official guidance can be updated. We update our kits and pages when they change, but we cannot promise that every page is up to date at every moment. Always check the official source for anything important.
Where it applies
Some rules differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each kit and page says where it applies. Do not rely on a kit for a part of the UK it does not cover.
Making Tax Digital
Our spreadsheets keep your records. They do not send anything to HMRC. To file under Making Tax Digital you also need HMRC-compatible bridging software. We do not recommend or endorse any particular software product.
Free tools
Our MTD start-date checker and late payment interest calculator give estimates based on the figures you enter and the rules as we understand them on the date shown. They may not cover every situation. Please confirm results with HMRC’s own tools, GOV.UK, or a qualified adviser.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for the information you enter in our kits and tools, for your own tax returns and records, and for decisions you make about your business and employees.
